Emily Lake, PhD, LCC, LPC-MH, NCC, QMHP

Emily is a licensed mental health counselor in Iowa and South Dakota. As a first generation college graduate, this was quite the feat for her. She started this journey by recieving a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2014. Soon after, she attend the University of South Dakota and received her Master or Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After recieving her degree she worked at the Human Services Center in Yankon, South Dakota working inpatient with adolescents. She soon got the itch to go back to school and was accepted into the University of South Dakota for the PhD Counselor Education and Supervision Program. She graduted in 2023 with her PhD and completed her dissertation on insurance and the ethics for mental health counselors.

While in her PhD she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. During her time in Rapid City she taught for South Dakota State University at their remote in-person program for Counseling and Human Services. She also started her private practice while in Rapid City.

Life changes led her back to Iowa, less than two hours from where she grew up. She currently lives in Spencer, Iowa with her two cats, dog, and her person.

Emily has been practicing since 2017 and primarily works from a Cognitive Behavioral Approach. She has worked with adults, adolescents, couples, and college students. She has worked with a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, restrictive eating, relationship concerns, ADHD/ADD, life transitions, Women’s issues, and many others.

In her free time, Emily enjoys reading, watching movies, cuddling with her fur animals, and playing games with family and friends.

Emily has always enjoyed working with a variety of individuals, but her true passion lies in simply helping people navigate life challenges. Life can be hard, it is important to have the right support.
